The LUV CHICK Story

Grandma Dottie's Recipe

Learn more about what we do

A long time ago in Texas, two tough-as-nails women ran the rowdiest saloon in the West.

The drinks were strong, the poker tables were loud, and—if a cowboy had enough gold in his pocket—he could find himself some extra hospitality. Then one night, a shootout turned the whole place upside down. When the dust settled, the cook was belly-up in the kitchen, and the ladies had a decision to make—close the doors or take over the grill.

Lucky for Texas, one of them found Grandma Dottie’s old chicken recipe tucked inside a dusty cookbook in the back pantry. They fried up a batch so good, even outlaws tipped their hats in respect.

Then came the new sheriff, all big boots and no nonsense. "No drinkin'. No gamblin'. No funny business. Shut it down!"

And just like that, the saloon was history.

But the women weren’t done yet. If they couldn’t serve whiskey, they’d serve fried chicken big enough to fill a cowboy’s plate. On opening day, they proudly hung a sign: "WE LUV CHICKN."

That is, until the Texas wind came barrelin’ through and knocked off half the letters. By morning, the sign simply read: “LUV CHICK." Folks had a good laugh, but the name stuck faster than molasses in winter. For hundreds of years, LUV CHICK’s golden, crispy recipe has passed through generations, growing from a small frontier kitchen to a modern-day legend.

Thanks to innovation and technology, the same recipe that started in a Wild West saloon is now world-famous, proving that no matter how far we go, great food and great stories never fade.

So if you ain’t had a bite yet… well, what in tarnation are you waitin’ for?
